The Proper Method For Wii Backups?

After scouring several forums for an answer and finding nothing of the sort, I though I would just ask, and not just for myself, but also for everyone else looking for the answer as well...

What is the proper method of creating working Wii backups?

I and many others know how to dump the raw image, and about the descrambling app. Can that really be it? Dump, descramble, burn? I'm hoping that someone who already has a pre of one of the modchips could shed a little needed light on this topic so we can get our backups ready to go for when our chips arrive!

From the information I got from one of the first retailer the correct process is :
1) unscramble .wii into .iso using the notorius unscrambler
2) Burn the .iso

Nothing more.

and how do you fit it in a single layer dvd ?

I tried unscrambling Wario Smoot moves and the resulting iso in around 600Mb, far less than a single layer capacity.

anyone know where i could find a tutorial to do all ? from dump the image to burn? with the name of the programs used to do it.

what about the wod file? is it around 600 mbs also? i really doubt that's the size of it...

So just burning with Nero should be fine then, right?

I got a .wii file 4.41GB, how do I make this into iso?

I downloaded unscrambler04 but this doesn't seem to do anything, is this tool for unscrambling wod's?

Sorry if I seem dumb, i'm just new to this.

pretty sure any game you unrar and its a .iso is already unscrambled and ready for burning in Nero (mode 1 2048 blocks , closed disc)

games extracted with .wii extension you need to unscramble with unscrambler 0.4 tool http://download.yousendit.com/4DA8113D3BB15176 , place the tool on say C drive, open a command prompt dos window, navigate to the hdd you have the unscrambler on then type
unscrambler.exe (extracted game name .wii) (name you want the game.iso)
so it would look something like this eg. unscrambler.exe zelda.wii Twilight Princess.iso

then after some time you will have a fully extracted iso ready for burning and probably around the 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes) size

Every .iso I've seen is over 4 gig except 1. Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam (NTSC) is only like 400 megs. Doesn't that seem strange? Is something being done to remove unnecessary stuff off the discs or something? Weird why that one is so small.

its probably had the garbage/dummy data stripped, back with cube isos it was common and programs like FSTFiX could replace the stripped garbage and remake the iso to full size again, not sure if there is a tool around that does the same for Wii images , maybe FSTFiX can even do it as I think it had a option to pad a image to a full disc size

I thought you had to have a specific give of dvd drive? an LG? is that true?
