Hi

Maybe here are some experts regarding PICīs and maybe they can confirm what kind of PIC is used for the Wiinja. Many people are thinking itīs a 12C508 but I also read that this PIC is obsolute and the Wiinja more likely used a 12Fxxx.
I also read from someone claiming he already got his Wiinja that the chip used is a 12F629 (I/P(b3) 4YB / 0649).
So what do you think ? And could a 12C50 also be used if the Wiinja is shipped on a 12F629 ?

a (dutch) guy on gbanet already got one in and his one was a 12F629 :)

are you sure? 12f629 is rewritable, so why is not possible to upgrade?

I don’t know if it is a 12f629 or not for sure but there is still no programming circuitry and they do not intend to make updates that is why its not upgradeable what are they gonna do just put up the .bin's and let people go to town

The PIC that can be used depends on the size of the code that needs injecting.

As an example, the drivecode patches for the gamecube were approximately 512 bytes in size.

So for the Wii with (so far) its single drivetype, you would probably need a PIC with at least 1k to store both the drive patch and the serial debug control code.

Maybe you could get away with a 12C509. I think they used the 629 for its availability , and its faster 8Mhz internal oscillator.

er.. the connections of wire 1 and 8 are different from the diagrams

alternative 3.3v and ground?

yep, it makes no difference as to where you get your + / - Volt

so now we only need the best part...extract the code...

lol there is no way to just extract the fucking code

what do u think?!

its Read Protected means the fuses are blown -> pay 1000 Bucks to Simreasearch if u want the code from it but have fun doing it urself,

coding ur own modchip is far more easier then steal this ones..........

I agree, ripping the code is quite tricky, I dont know how these chips react to voltage glitches, that could be another way....

The easiest and pretty simple way is to "sniff" what the chip is telling the wii to do & reproduce into a new hex. I`m sure this will be the way the wiinja will be ripped & I`m also sure there are guys onto this method already

if I had a bonch of the chips to work with I belive I could dump one but I would definatley ruin more than a few before I got it right, for now I am not too conserned with it though

there are ways to do it without expensive skimmers etc etc, and paying your soul to a company.

all you need is someone who has the right equipment and the time and patience.

its not a lot of code where talking about here, and as we all know theres some very clever people who do this stuff simply because they can.

theres loads of ways it can be reverse engineered.

it will happen, rumours abound its already been done, but who knows.

Why do u talk when u have no clue? Tell me how withoucht taking the PIC appart?

a 12C508 i know how to crack it easily but its not used for the Winja..............................

and why do you talk with such an attitude, thats the problem with this forum, its full of immature kiddies.

it was a generalisation, there are lots of ways this can either be reversed engineered, or used to help reverse engineering. LA is just one example.

Why not just accept other methods instead of dismissing others posts.

Its a discussion, not your own personal playground.

Read up yourself......................

My speculations is that we can use 12c509 as well, since the 12c509 and the 12C629 are about the same, only the 12c629 can run at higher frequencies. BUT only with an external crystal, since this is not used in combination with the Wiinja, the 12c509 would be suitable as well....

A spain site sell a workable wiinja on Pic 12f629. They have hex code, because this is a cover chip (not original)

just to confirm, Wiinja arrived today, and WAS a 12F629 plain and simple ....

heres to hopeing that the code will get released at some point... not yet let the dev. people make there money that they have ernt, but say after a couple of months ...
