Those free services depend on a game having a LAN play mode. There were 2 games for the GC that had LAN play with which you could play online via XLinkKai, but no Wii games have it. I can't really imagine a reason for it since the Wii is supposed to have free online play sometime in the future, albeit through the questionable friend code system.
What I would like to see is some kind of method to simplify this friend code system using Wii Connect 24. Say for example if you have it enabled to where your console is always online, maybe adding someone to your friends on let's say... the Nintendo forums, they could send the persons friend code to your console and add it to your friends under the persons name. I can even see this being done through homebrew in the future should some talented coder read this and like the idea (I wish! ;) )
