Getting a wiikey- dont think I wanna drill a hole in my wii to install a swich. What is the purpose of one? Why would you want to disable the wiikey...

So that if Nin finds a way to detect it, you can disable it until a fix comes out.

Stealth is a marketing gimmick at best.

Thats why if you go with a PIC all you have to do is unplug it from the 8 pin socket on the outside of your wii :D

you can mount the switch in one of the square holes on the bottom for the intake, if you don't want to drill any holes....

could you not just desolder a wire until a fix is availible?

Hi all,

Where should you install the switch (WiiKey)? I've seen no pics on that yet?
Can someone explain this to me please?

Somebody that know how to install switches on the wii with wiikey needs to post a tutorial on how do it. My wiikey is on its way and i have no idea where the solder points are for the switch. Im not the only one....\

Install the switch to interrupt the point 2 connection... this is the positive power supply to the wiikey...

Solder one end of the switch to the power point and the other end to the power point on the chip. Note that it is not necessary to do this, only if you want to be able to turn the chip off.

I used a Radio Shack micromini toggle switch, it is so small that it fits above the USB ports (rather than in between the USB ports and vent as german-guy used for serial port) and you only need to drill a 1/4" hole in the case.

Works great; I can go to the game channel with no disk in the drive and put a backup in with the switch off and it will not load. Eject the disk, turn the switch on, put the disk back in and it plays. IE without even turning the console off.
