EDIT: The drive works now, but it won't read backups... Changed title to reflect that.
I got my WiiKey this week and installed it using wires.
I taped it securely and made sure it wouldn't make contact with other metal parts of the Wii.
I'm pretty sure my soldering job is good, but still...
Now, I just plugged in the ribbon cable and white connector to the dvd drive, connected the face plate and the cable to the tv/power/sensor bar.
The wii's light come up red (i had stand by turned off). So i turn it on using the wiimote and it flashed green then nothing. Now I can't turn it back on, wiimote won't connect. So I unplug the power and try again. Same thing.
I then disconnect the dvd drive (ribbon and white cable), and the wii boots fine (it does seem slower than usual, not sure).
I turn it back off, replug the dvd drive, and what do you know, it still won't work...
What should I do? Unsolder the whole thing and try again? Give up and hope that if I desolder, the drive is fine?
