Hi all,

I finally got my CycloWiz and installed it yesterday.

I went ahead and installed the wires for the upgrade switch, but just left them hanging out of the back of the unit while I did my initial test. It was working great: tested a few backups and original games and they all worked.

So, I hook up the 2 wires to the switch. When I powered up again, the backup I had inserted showed up in the Wii menu, but as soon as I went to start the game it gave me a DRE ("...please turn off the power...").

Now, when I start up my Wii, backups will not load at all, it's giving me the "unrecognized disc" error. I've tried the switch in both positions, thinking maybe I just had the update functionality ON by accident. It won't work either way.

I've also noticed that the opening sound that plays as the Wii menu pops up stutters sometimes now.

I haven't had time to open it back up and take a look at the LED yet, but I'm just wondering: has this happened to anyone else? It's weird that it was working fine, and then all of a sudden it won't work simply b/c I hooked the switch up....

Thanks for any input.

make sure you have your switch flipped off. After doing so turn your wii off, not in standby mode but off so that the led is red. Give it about 10 seconds and then turn your wii back on. That should help you

I actually left the entire unit unplugged overnight and tried it again this morning.

Still no response from the Cyclowiz.

Any other ideas?

It seems like this sort of thing has happened to others, but there is no thread discussing it specifically.

No not at all, these 'others' you mention were not actually shutting thier units down, and simply powering down to standby mode. So no no-one else is suffering this, the reports posted were user error.

Open up your Wii and check the LED, something I am sure in retrospect you realise you should have done during the install itself before putting the Wii back together.

I had the same thing happened when I first started it up after hooking up my switch. Game could be seen but as soon as it loaded it would DRE...I ended up unplugging console and flipping the switch. Sure enough what I thought was off was actually on. After I flipped the switch it worked as normal....

Dude this happened to me. I didnt get very far with it becase heres what happend

1. everythign was working great so installed the switch. before closing it up i made sure everything was working. It worked. So then i tried to mount the swithc instead of having it in the open air. Well then the cyclowiz led became very very dim. SO i turned it off and undid the switch. Then the drive did not turn on at all. This switch has been giving a lot of problems.
