I just installed my wiikey in an NTSC D2B wii and it seems to be working great for both originals and backups of wii games. However, it's not working very well on gamecube backups. The results I had were:
Warioware party 4: works fine
Wave Race Blue Storm: Seems to work ok, menus are good, but when you actually start to race I get a error of the type "something is wrong, reset your gamecube". Obviously I don't recall the wording of that message quite right.
Eternal Darkness: Seems to work fine, except for intro music bug (see below).
Both Waverace and Eternal Darkness did something odd at startup. They began to play their opening theme music, but after 3-5 seconds it abruptly stopped. The screen did not freeze, animation continued smoothly. In both cases, pressing "start" and continuing into the game worked properly, but I can't see why the theme music stopped.
All games are burned on Verbatim DVD-R's, and have worked well with my modified Gamecube console for years.
Is this just a DRE / media issue, or is there something about the wiikey that causes this? I only suspect the wiikey because of the very odd (but consistent accross two games) behavior of the startup music. Has anyone else tried the above mentioned games (ntsc games, on ntsc console)?
