Recieved a wiikey from a friend today which tops all bad installs LOL

He PULLED the tin wire from point 5 ALL the way to the connecter hole (see pic). He also soldered the wire connecter of point 2 with the bottom of C2 (see pic)

Can I just razor through point 2 and C2? Is the ANY way to manually solder point 5?

Wish I had a cam to post a pic of it lol...

Hope ya'll can help.

Greetz,

Point 2 to bottom of c2 is right as that is where trace goes from point 2.

As for point 5 it goes to corner pin beside point 6 pin.

There was so much solder on point 2 and C2 it lookes like he tried to solder them together lol

You mean here? Or below where I marked? (to manually solder point 5)

Thanks for your help! Great forum!

yup that is where pin 6 is! solder the wire directly to that, itll be same as soldering on the quick solder point on number 6. as for connecting the c2 to pin2, use solder wick, works like a charm!

oh I marked point 6 in that pic huh?

Is this new pic correct? Point 5 has to go on THAT corner on the top row last pin right. :)

I just resoldered C2 to Point2, Rest is also soldered except point 5 heh...

Thanks again!

PAD 5 does go the the through hole indicated, but come up by the throughhole buy the chip by trace from pad 6.

Your image that you put Text PAD 5 is correct that pin under the resistor on corner is pad 5.

At least from probing my WiiKey and following traces.

I lost pad #4 yesterday. So I tried to solder directly on the chip's legs: I did it but... I accidentally remove it and guess what??? It came out with the leg itself!!!

Now I can't even try to solder it back to the leg because there's no more leg. I'm pretty sure the Wiikey was DOA (everything here happened because I was trying to make it work). So I sent modchipstore an email explaining what happened: still no answer!

I'm getting very frustrated here!!!

that doesnt sound too good. What do you mean when u said you did it but u accidentally removed it? If you successfuly soldered it there how did u remove it :S

The wire was successfully soldered on the leg. But I wanted to make sure that there was no short. So I tried to "push" (make the wire straight) the wire with a scalpel: this is when the leg got off.

I think I botched my install too. I thought I did a nice clean install w wires, but the Wii shuts off and doesn't turn back on when I hit the power switch.

I'll take it apart and do it all over again, but I hope it didn't brick my Wii. I can't find a bridged spot either.

I was installing mine, and pad 4 came right off as well. I'm pissed. Did you ever hear back from modchipstore? Thats where I got mine too.

Wii works now (chips was touching metal), but unable to read backups. Could be shitty media (optodisc?), I'll need to try verbatims.

I couldn't fix all the screwed up spots... I gave it 4 days ago to our local modchip store to see if they can fix it...

I'll let you all know what they fixed if they can even fix it..

At least MY Wii works so I don't care when he gets his back

We thank you all for your help and time!
