    ReadMore Alpha

    From bjoerngiesler:

    Hi,

    I'm proud to present the first little app using my DS GUI lib: ReadMore. It's in alpha, but it's enough to look at.

    ReadMore is an Ebook Reader with no frills, bells or whistles. It currently has the following features:

    o Book-style format; the DS is held on end like a pocket book.
    o Only .txt files supported.
    o Anti-aliased fonts, changeable per document.
    o Three bookmarks per document.
    o Last visited document is re-opened on program start.

    You can get it at http://giesler.biz/~bjoern/downloads...dMoreAlpha.zip. There's a ReadMe file in the ZIP which you should read before installing.

    Have fun!

    Regards,
    Björn
    Nice looking EBook reader, if you didn't know what it was.

    It works fairly well for an Alpha. I hope they add pdf support (yah right).
    Code:
    (*prev).next = (*toDelete).next;
    delete toDelete;

    //if only forgetting
    //were this easy for me

    assert "It's going to be ok";
    //-xkcd

    The closest thing we have for pdf support on the homebrew scene is PaperlessPrinter for windows, which converts them to picture files viewable on comicbook ds

    No actually pdf format syntax is open source. You can download an SDK with like 1000 pages of pdf syntax description.
    Code:
    (*prev).next = (*toDelete).next;
    delete toDelete;

    //if only forgetting
    //were this easy for me

    I think the practice of reviving 1-year-old, dead threads back to life is generally frowned upon.
    Code:
    (*prev).next = (*toDelete).next;
    delete toDelete;

    Font files come with the program and should be placed in X:\DATA\fonts (where X is the letter your computer assigns to the memory card). The font files have an extension of *.bfont.

    Question

    Sorry for being thick...
    I put the font folder onto the micro sd card into a folder named DATA which I create? or just create a folder called DATA and paste the fonts into it?

    Sorry to necro this thread, but has there been any advancement on this?
    If not, can anyone recommend a good vertical ebook reader? I REALLY like the feel of having a book open in my hands.....this should start to be the norm IMO.
    Thanks for any help!

    The only other major ebook reader that lets you turn the DS on its side is DSLibris. You'll have to convert your files to XML format first, and I'm not entirely sure how to do that, sorry.

    You can also look into ANDS PDF, which lets you read PDF files on the DS. It's got a "reader" mode where it attempts to take the text in the PDF file and format it to fit the DS screen rather than making you scroll around the page. Worth a shot at least. http://ands-pdf.blogspot.com/

    That's a damn shame....Readmore had SOOO much POTENTIAL!!
    Thanks for the suggestions, I've tried dslibris, dsreader....but I DIDN'T know about that "reader" mode in ands-pdf.....I'll try that. Thanks again!

    I've been using DS Reader for over a year now. Being able to use any truetype font is sweet.
