Seriously, i thought i`d seen it all Worst install so far!!

though i would share this little gem with you.

heres number one of the worst Wii install`s, i`ve seen so far.

Believe it or not this was actually working in the state shown in the picture (i took the customers word for it), after viewing an innitial photo from him , i said i would look at it, his picture was blurred and i couldnt actually see the mess on the drive chip, only when i got it, and opened her up, did i realise this was probably not a fix-able job, i rung him and thats when he told me it was working with originals. His son had took it to his mates dad who did the install, anyway he tried the wiikey settings disk, which didnt work, so he opened and seen this :-

Not the worst install ive seen, but certainly the worst Wii install so far.

    Started working in it.

I know there are some tracks from the chip missing, and i do know that there is a component missing, but the customer told me he didnt want it back as it was, even though it worked with originals, he wanted it cleaning, and if it stopped working, it wasnt my problem, so i just cleaned everything, and straightened all the pins, made sure non where shorted and did a normal install.

and guess what (even i couldnt belive it, been on it now with many games, and not a single problem).

    it works fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy hell. That is amazing. I can't believe it actually worked. Good job man! That has got to be the worst attempt at an installation I have ever seen. Thats just horribly horrendous. What was the kid drinking? Is he legally blind? Good God, I can't believe you actually repaired that mess. Might I ask what you charged for a repair like that and how much time you put into it? Also what gauge wire are you using for the VCC and GND and why don't you use the 30 gauge wire?

    Impressive.
It is impossible to design an idiot-proof device, because nature continues to develop better idiots.

    Impressive.

it was the guy who owned the console`s, sons, mates, dad if you know what i mean, who did it, and yes i reckon he must of been a chronic alchoholic!

i charged for this £85 which included the repair, supply of a new chip, install, return delivery, tax.

i`m using (dont quote me on this , as i have a massive roll) 24 gauge multi-core `bell wire` , just standard stuff from maplin, about £7 for a 50m roll i think. The reason i use this stuff for the VCC and GND is because, basically its carrying current, kynar is a bit too thin for my liking for anything thats carrying power, plus the insulation is thicker, and the wire is stronger. Just good practice to use this stuff. You can get away with kynar, but ive got it here, so may as well use it.

time wise, about 3 hours of which at least half of which was cleaning, desoldering, sorting the pins out, checking etc etc etc.

This one is indeed impressive. And £85 is really cheap if it includes a new chip and delivery. Thumbs up!

Great job again mate, I seriously cannot imagine how someone can mess it up this bad. Must have been some type of fatal attraction thing going on

Holy F#$k that is hilarious, looks like the guy blasted it with a 3000 watt gun lol

i had one similar to this, bit not quite so messy, they guy had actually managed to remove one of the IC legs completely and blobbed the surrounding 4 or 5 together, i thought it was a dud since it was missing the leg but i did what i could and luckily the leg wasnt needed for the install of the chip. When i powered it up it all worked perfectly. Very surprising!

I gotta give credit to the one who fixed this. Great job. That thing was a MESS.

This is for the person who tried the install in the first place:
